Built to close the gap between plans and reality

Vantoryn Systems was founded to address a persistent problem: the disconnect between executive reporting and the reality of daily operations. We help organizations see how work actually happens and design systems that reflect that reality.

Our origin

Vantoryn was founded in 2019 by a team of operations consultants and systems engineers who had spent years watching organizations struggle with the same problem: they'd invested heavily in technology, but their day-to-day operations still felt fragmented and manual.

The issue wasn't the technology itself. It was the gap between what systems were designed to do and what people actually needed them to do. Executive dashboards showed metrics that didn't match field reality. Workflow tools required workarounds that defeated their purpose. Data lived in silos that made coordination across locations nearly impossible.

We started Vantoryn with a simple premise: operational systems should be designed around how work actually gets done, not how org charts suggest it should happen. We focus on the messy middle ground between strategy and execution—the place where most operational technology implementations fail.

Today, we work with regional enterprises, distributed service teams, and multi-location organizations across the United States. Our clients range from 50 to 2,000 employees, united by a common challenge: they need their operational systems to be usable, not merely installed.

What guides our work

Three principles shape every engagement we take on.

Make complexity visible

You can't improve what you can't see. We help organizations map their actual operational complexity—not the simplified version in process documents—so they can make informed decisions about where to focus improvement efforts.

Design for the people doing the work

Operational systems fail when they're designed for executives and auditors but not for the people who use them daily. We design for frontline adoption first, because that's where operational value is created or lost.

Leave teams more capable than before

We don't believe in creating dependency. Every engagement is designed to transfer knowledge and build internal capability. When we leave, your team should be able to manage, improve, and extend what we built together.

Leadership

Our leadership team combines deep operational experience with technical expertise in systems integration and workflow design.

Marcus Chen

Co-Founder & CEO

Marcus spent 12 years as an operations consultant at major firms before founding Vantoryn. He led operational transformation projects for regional service companies and became frustrated with the gap between recommended solutions and actual adoption. He holds an MBA from Northwestern and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech.

Sarah Okonkwo

Co-Founder & CTO

Sarah is a systems architect who spent a decade building integration platforms for healthcare and logistics companies. She joined Marcus because she shared his belief that most operational technology failures aren't technical—they're design failures. She leads Vantoryn's technical architecture practice and holds a MS in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon.

David Ramirez

VP of Client Operations

David spent 15 years managing operations for regional facilities and distribution companies before joining Vantoryn. He understands the challenges our clients face because he's lived them. He leads client engagements and ensures our solutions are practical and sustainable. He holds a BS in Business Administration from University of Michigan.

James Patterson

VP of Delivery

James leads Vantoryn's delivery practice and ensures every engagement delivers measurable operational value. He brings 11 years of project management and systems implementation experience from the distribution and healthcare sectors. His focus is on practical delivery without scope creep, and he's known for strong stakeholder communication. He holds a PMP certification and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Purdue.

Lisa Nakamura

Head of Engineering

Lisa leads Vantoryn's engineering and integration teams. She spent 8 years building backend systems and data pipelines for fintech and logistics platforms before joining us. She's passionate about building clean, maintainable integration code and mentoring engineers who understand that great technical architecture serves business outcomes. She holds a MS in Computer Science from UC Berkeley.

Andrew Foster

VP of Business Development

Andrew works with prospective clients to understand their operational challenges and determine if Vantoryn is the right partner. He spent 9 years in enterprise technology sales and business development at middleware and integration companies, where he developed deep experience with how operational systems get evaluated and adopted. He values consultative selling and transparent conversations about scope and fit. He holds a BA in Business from University of Wisconsin.

What we believe

Our values shape how we work with clients and how we build our company.

Practical over perfect

We'd rather deliver a solution that works well today than wait for a perfect solution that may never arrive. Operational improvement is iterative, not revolutionary.

Honest about what we can and can't do

We're clear about our capabilities and limitations. If your problem isn't a good fit for our approach, we'll tell you and try to refer you to someone who can help.

Respect for frontline expertise

The people doing operational work know things that executives and consultants don't. We listen to them and design solutions that leverage their expertise.

Long-term thinking

We build solutions that will still work well in three years, not just three months. That means choosing sustainable approaches over quick fixes, even when it takes more upfront effort.

Transparency in how we work

Clients see our thinking, not just our deliverables. We share our analysis, explain our recommendations, and make sure teams understand the reasoning behind design decisions.

Continuous learning

Every engagement teaches us something new about how organizations actually operate. We document those lessons and apply them to future work.

Who we work with

We work with organizations that need operational systems to be usable, not merely installed. Our clients typically have:

  • Multiple locations or distributed teams that need to coordinate
  • Complex operational workflows that span multiple departments or systems
  • Technology investments that aren't delivering expected operational value
  • A commitment to improving operations, not just implementing technology
  • 50 to 2,000 employees, typically in service, distribution, or healthcare administration
